Joomla is a web-based website management program and is installed on the webserver where you will be hosting the website itself.

Now, how do you get it there?

First of all, there are several ways to install Joomla, and many different server destinations, so there is no quick and simple answer to that question.

Let's take a look at some of the common Joomla installation options:

• Many webhosts offer "one-click"  installation (well, it's more like three or four clicks) through "Fantastico" or some other similar "script installer."  This is a great way to get a Joomla site up and running in just a few minutes.  Here is a link to installing Joomla with Fantastico.

• Perhaps you want to install Joomla manually.  If you have a level of comfort using FTP and can create a mySQL database through your hosting service control panel, then follow these directions in the Joomla installation manual.

• Are you installing to a Windows based web-host?  You may find this information helpful.

• If you run into problems, there is an entire area of the Joomla forum dedicated to installation problems .  Do some searching there and you'll find some good tips.
